The Cardiff Blues, their shirt sponsor Canterbury and club sponsor DS Smith have teamed up to create a ‘green shirt’. The obvious point is that the shirt is a striking jasmine green in colour, however it is the tag line on the back of the shirt that shows the shirts true meaning. ‘Turning The Blues Green’ is aimed at encouraging the club and the fans to take up a more ‘green’ way of thinking whether it be in day-to-day life or on match day.
At Lovell Rugby we have both the ‘Pro’ and ‘Test’ models of the 2014/15 3rd Shirt in stock but it is the latter that has pushed the boundaries with regards to innovation and technology. The ‘Test’ shirt is made from Canterbury’s high performance fabric which is designed to deliver optimum strength and moisture management. It is also lightweight so offers a comfortable feel when being sported.
The ‘Loop 21.1′ collar is an evolution of Canterbury’s signature neckline. It is designed to enhance durability, which along with the plus triple-bar tacks, increase the strength of the shirt in vulnerable places and so minimise the risk of it ripping.
For those that like to show off their guns, the cuffs are constructed from a nylon/spandex blend which ensures a streamlined fit around the biceps.
Both shirts are finished off with the inspiring motto ‘Strength Through Unity’ on the inside of the collar. The Blues will be looking to build on last seasons disappointment after finishing 7th in the RaboDirect Pro12. The rumoured arrival of former New Zealand Under-20s fly-half Gareth Anscombe would be a massive boost to the team after losing Leigh Halfpenny to Toulon. They have already recruited the likes of Jarrad Hoeata, Tavis Knoyle and Craig Mitchell for the 2014/15 season.
