In the mix of all of the high profile games over the past weekend, it was a boot that caught the eye in the Lovell Rugby office. The stunning new Mizuno Morelia Neo was given its first run out on pitch by a host of players at the London Rugby Sevens and during the Aviva Premiership Semi-Finals.
The Morelia Neo is Mizuno’s lightest leather boot ever making it ideal for players looking to cover serious ground during the game. Englands Norton has been wearing Mizuno boots for some time now and the new boots is ideally suited for him. London was the final leg on the HSBC Sevens World Series and it gave the flyer the opportunity to add to his impressive try scoring statistics for the season. Norton was top try scorer for the weekend finishing with a total of 10 tries, 3 ahead of Kenya’s Willy Ambaka. This took his total for the season to 52 and meant that he was crowned both Top Try Scorer and Top Points Scorer for the series.
The upper is made from the finest kangaroo leather which provides a quilted, luxurious feel whilst the stitch lines help to offer a secure fit. To improve the comfort of the boot, Mizuno have included padding on the tongue.
The graded Pebax sole plate is designed to offer enhanced flexibility and durability. It it also extremely light so brings the overall weight of the boot down. The multi-stud pattern allows for excellent foot holding and comfort. There are 13 moulded studs on the FG boot which help to reduce foot pressure.
There were a number of other top players wearing the boots over the weekend including Harlequins trio Maurie Fa’asavalu, James Johnston and Tom Williams. Christian Day and George Pisi of Northampton Saints also gave their new boots a run out.
The Autumn Glory/White/Diva Mizuno Morelia Neo boots will be available to order from Lovell Rugby in June 2013.
