The pride and passion for Les Bleus is evident from the moment this rugby shirt shirt is pulled on. The France 2012/13 Home Shirt is the perfect embodiment of French rugby; being both understated and stylish.
Nike were the previous technical sponsor of the France national side, however when the contract came up for grabs Adidas ensured that thier logo would be the next to sit on the famous shirt. The sportswear giants have signed a 6 year contract with the French Rugby Federation.
Whether it is Morgan Parra on the pitch or a supporter in the crowd, all those involved in French sport will feel the same attachment to their nation when wearing the new shirt.
A traditional true blue colour across the whole shirt is accompanied by a white collar with red edging as homage to the national colours. This theme continues with Les Tricolores stripes printed over the upper chest and sat above the stitched FFR badge and Adidas logo. The words ‘RESPECT – INNOVATION – PASSION – ENGAGEMENT’ run around the inside of the collar as these are the values that drive the players on.
The famous cockerel, a symbol of the country and the team, is embroided on the left chest plate whilst the Adidas logo sits opposite it on the right. The golden bird is known to embody courage, confidence, audacity and French flair.
Utilising Adidas’s ClimaCool fabrics in the creation of this France rugby shirt, moisture is wicked away from the body and to help keep your body at an optimum temperature. Even as the temperatures heats up on the pitch, you can still keep your cool.
As a subtle finishing touch, the back of the collar sports a small blue print of the French cockerel.
The first time we will see the shirt on pitch is when France take on Australia in the Autumn internationals later this year.
