Last weekend saw the return of one of rugby’s most controversial characters, as Gavin Henson made his competitive debut for London Welsh in an Aviva Premiership match against Saracens.
It was Henson’s first appearance since he had his contract at the Cardiff Blues terminated back in April this year, with promising signs for his future at London Welsh and potential return to the Wales set-up as he finished the game with 14 points.
Henson has always been one to stand out in the media, however this season we think that his boot choice may also grab the limelight. In recent seasons he has worn Nike Mercurial Vapor boots although over the summer he made the switch to X Blades. The southern hemisphere brand are well known in Rugby League but are now attracting the attention of players from the opposite code.
He ran out for his debut in a pair of Wild Thing rugby boots, a fitting name for Henson’s career to date. The design of the boots may not be aesthetically pleasing to all but the performance and technology involved in the boot itself is to the highest standards.
The boots has a microfibre and TPU reinforced mesh upper which improves the fit, a lightweight, flexible and water resistant inner board, strategically positioned moulded blades across the forefoot and heel, and Speed Ortholite Innersole which absorbs pressure during acceleration
