Experiencing the British & Irish Lions in action is a Mecca for the most loyal rugby fans, one that involves crossing thousands of miles across several continents all in the name of an 80 minute game.
This is not an annual pilgrimage however, with a once every four opportunity making the occasion even more sort after and truly one of sports greatest spectacles that any true rugby fan must make at least once in their lifetime.
Those who have been bare testament to such a unique event, one which unites four nations against one and where only the lucky few will be fortunate enough to witness for real.
When tickets for the British & Lions 2013 Tour of Australia sold out in less time than one of their warm-ups sessions, here at Lovell Rugby HQ we made sure we had our army of fans in place to supply us with all the action from Down Under. Not that we are jealous in anyway, as surely being at the game itself can’t compare with being huddled around a laptop or cramming into a watering hole mid-morning.
As soon as these images arrived all the way from Australia, everyone in the office certainly felt a little envious and even more so considering the outcome of the first Test. Although you certainly couldn’t put a price on experiencing such a spectacle, we hope that by sharing these snaps you get a feel for history in the making.
If it is any consolation to those sat watching from home, it is winter out in Australia right now and you wouldn’t really want to be amongst the crowd in the cold and wet would you? All thoughts of the weather will have been forgotten by everyone inside the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday night though, with the possible exception of Kurtley Beale who preferred to get up close and personal with the pitch.
Stay tuned for our next Lovell Rugby blog where we will be covering action from the final Lions midweek match of the Tour against the Melbourne Rebels.
