Newcastle Falcons are currently fighting for their place in the top tier of English rugby and will be hoping to benefit from the experience of Euan Murray to keep them up. The team are currently bottom of the league, 8 points behind London Wasps, with five games still to play and a relegation battle still to resolve.
He signed his first professional contract with Glasgow Warriors before moving to Northampton Saints in 2007. In late 2010 it was announced that the prop would be leaving Franklin’s Gardens by mutual consent with immediate effect. He joined Newcastle Falcons shortly after. Murray currently has 43 Scotland caps to his name and has also featured in a Lions tour (South Africa 2009).
We were lucky enough to grab a few minutes with Euan and ask him some quick questions:
How long have you been wearing Asics boots?
I’m pretty sure I have been wearing Asics boots for at least 5 years
Why did you choose the Asics Lethal Warno Rugby Boots?
I chose the Lethal Warnos because they help to prevent achilles injuries. They are also light and comfortable to play in.
What do you look for in a pair of boots?
I look for a boot which suits my needs as a prop forward: a boot which helps to reduce injuries; a boot which provides excellent grip and comfort for scrummaging.
How are you finding the recent six Nations?
It’s been an exciting competition with some very close games.
How did you find the recent Rugby World Cup?
I really enjoyed playing in the RWC 2011. I enjoyed the travelling, time with old friends, and meeting new ones. It was a great disappointment to exit so early, but it was a difficult group. The tough part was being away from my wife and baby for so long, but that’s a sacrifice you sometimes have to make.
Do you think the Newcastle Falcons can stay up this season?
Definitely. We just need to keep working hard.
What advice would you give to any young player?
Work hard – that’s how you’ll enjoy the game and fulfil the talent God has given you.
