Lovell Rugby Interview Ryan Jones, Alex Cuthbert and Scott Williams in Association with Puma

After their 2012 Six Nations Grand Slam success, we at Lovell Rugby were given the opportunity to interview three of the stars that helped the team to the crown. Each player had a different role to play throughout the competition whether it was being in the starting XV or making an impact from the bench.

Former captain Ryan Jones was used from the bench to good affect and showed the fans that he still had alot to offer the side after his performance in the final game against France where he came on to replace captain Sam Warburton. Alex Cuthbert scored the decisive try against France to help seal the Six Nations and Grand Slam. Young Scott Williams was used as a second half replacement during most games and came on to score the winning try against England which meant Wales completed the Triple Crown.

This is what the guys had to say when we spoke to them:

Ryan Jones

Congratulations on winning your third grand slam!  Which one has been the most special?

Thanks it’s been a whirlwind week. No one is more special than any other, but I’m excited by the strength of the current squad and think we’ve proved the future is bright for Welsh rugby.

How long have you been wearing Puma Boots?

I’ve been wearing them for just under a year now.

Why did you choose the Puma King H8 Rugby Boots?

I’ve seen how well the brand look after other boys in the Wales set up and at Ospreys. There’s always lots of talk in the dressing room and competition about the latest boots so I decided I wanted a bit of that! [laughs] The King H8 is a really comfortable boot. It’s classic and I’ve enjoyed wearing it.

Do you have any favourite colours in rugby boots?

I tend to prefer black boots – I like to keep things simple.

How is the Ospreys season going?

It’s been going well. We’re still working hard and will continue to up until the end of the season to keep improving and get some more wins under our belts. I’m still really enjoying playing and being part of it.

What advice would you give to any young player?

To enjoy the game. To work hard – you reap what you sew so the more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of the game.

Alex Cuthbert

Congratulations on winning your first grand slam! How has it been?

Thank you, yeah it’s been madness but all good.

How long have you been wearing Puma Boots?

I started wearing them at the beginning of the Six Nations.

Why did you choose the Puma v1.11 Boots?

They really suit my game and are really comfortable to wear. I like how they look.

Have you any favourite colours? We notice you have been wearing the brillaint White/Pink colour recently.

Yeah – they really stand out and I’m pleased to be wearing them. I’m sure there’ll be more colours on my feet in the future, but at the moment I really like the ones I’ve got.

How is the Cardiff Blues season going for far?

It’s good. We’ve got Glasgow Warriors away this weekend so I’m settling back into the club after being with Wales and looking forward to the rest of the season.

Who is the quickest player in the current Welsh squad?

I wouldn’t like to say. I’m sure a few of the lads would want me to nominate them for that one, but if I said one person over another I’d get a lot of stick.

Scott Williams

Congratulations on winning your first grand slam! How has it been?

Thanks. It’s been busy but really pleased to have been part of it and have received such a good response over the last week.

How long have you been wearing Puma Boots?

I haven’t been in the boots that long, just a few months.

Why did you choose the new Puma Powercat?

Above all else it’s a really comfortable boot which is really important for me personally. It helps that it also looks good, but the quality and support that it gives me was my priority.

Any favourite colour of boots?

No as I said it’s all about the comfort for me.

How is the Scarlets season going so far?

It’s going okay. There are some big games coming up so it’s good to be back with the squad and working on my fitness.

Was the winning try at Twickenham your most enjoyable try to date?

One of them. It meant a lot especially with friends and family watching.
