The Adidas Rugby Predator legacy continues in the form of the Predator Incurza which has made its debut during the international summer tests down under. Some of the biggest names in rugby have all been wearing the boots including Dan Carter, Brian O’Driscoll, Will Genia and Ben Youngs.
This is the fifth edition of the highly successful Rugby Predator collection and is set to be their most successful. The re-designed soft ground boot has a full-grain calf leather upper and features a 5mm heel wedge, hybrid sole plate, Adidas Sprintframe outsole and miCoach capabilities.
Made from a Taurus full-grain calf leather to provide a natural look and abrasion resistance, the Predator technology has been perfected so that this soft compound provides unparalleled swerve, control and accuracy on all your touches.
This style of leather has been used as an alternative to K-leather to introduce a stronger material whilst retaining the soft touch.
For players of a wider fit then these boots have been expanded, putting them on level terms with the successful Powerswerve model. A subtle and innovative touch is the 3D Puff print on the inner heel, making the boot easier to break in and ensures that the boot will fit better by locking your foot in whilst preventing foot slippage.
In addition, Adidas have introduced a 5mm heel wedge to help you maintain a better running/striking position which helps reduce injury and strain on your lower limbs.
The FG boot has a sole plate designed to ensure maximum grip and acceleration across firm natural surfaces by utilising a configuration of moulded bladed studs, strategically positioned across the sole.
The SG Boot uses the new Hybrid sole plate, this utilises a combination of soft and firm ground studs for optimal grip and traction across natural soft surfaces. This sole plate has already proven successful on the adiZero footwear series of, providing more grip without adding weight to the boot. This is the boot most of the professionals have been wearing over recent weeks due to the wet weather conditions.
Whilst on the subject of the outsole, one of the key strengths of the Incurza is the inclusion of Adidas’s Sprintframe outsole construction, focusing on stability and lightweight through geometry.
Compatible with the Adidas miCoach chip which fits discreetly beneath the inner sole, not included with this boot but available to purchase separately, your boots now have the ability to report back on all your progress in training and match environments. Time, speed, distance, speed zones and number of sprints are all recorded and can be monitored by simply connecting the miCoach chip to your PC or iPhone. There’s nowhere to hide now as your every move is monitored.
A striking black, royal blue and lime colourway brings a sense of style to the rugby pitch, for players who like to make an impression and leave opponents trailing on the ground. The Incurza has also been released in a metalic silver, black and red colourway which has also given its debut during the summer tests and been worn by the likes of Ronan O’Gara and Piri Weepu.
