In the midst of fiesta time in Portugal, New Balance arrived in town to join the festivities and Lovell Soccer checked in with them at the home of FC Porto, as the Visaro took to the pitch.

Continuing with the Take Chances / Make Chances campaign, this was an opportunity to feel and experience them up close and personal. Under the watchful eye of an academy coach we put the newest boot in the game to the test and our cameras were rolling to capture the Visaro in action….

Beneath the glaring Portuguese sun, there’s no denying that the Visaro makes for a rather radiant look decked out in Bolt Blue. However, you’re also going to need plenty of substance and something practical in terms of comfort and performance when it comes to the reality of wintry weekend action.

Slipping your foot inside and lacing up the Visaro, there’s an instant natural feeling that this boot will genuinely help your game. From the controlling aspects of the Vari-zone Ariaprene synthetic upper through to the suede-like feel of the sculptured ankle and heel padding, a sense of luxurious comfort treats your feet.

Of course it’s all very well feeling good at kick-off but you want the comfort to remain consistent throughout and New Balance have clearly committed themselves to achieving this.

Having worked closely with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Samir Nasri and Marouane Fellaini on the Visaro, the professionals are now feeding back that they favour shorter studs which are greater in number, particularly when it comes to shorter grass and firmer grounds. Testing out the FG option, it’s easy to agree with the professionals and the spread of thirteen moulded studs certainly provide plenty of contact with the pitch.

One aspect that is always a concern, for players at all levels of the game, is that of soreness and blistering which is often common place when trying out new boots yet to be broken in. This has been reduced significantly and with the medial Pivot Zone aimed at quick turns, the shorter studs play a significant part in added comfort leading to enhanced performance.

While it’s safe to say we won’t be getting offered a FC Porto contract, the general consensus was that the Visaro heralds a breath of fresh air among the traditional offerings. Ticking all the boxes in terms of comfort, performance and aesthetics, the simplicity of the design sits in harmony with the technical aspects.
