New Faces in England Elite Squad

New Faces in England Elite Squad

What a summer it has been for international rugby and off the back of the triumphant British & Irish Lions tour of Australia, England players are now returning for duty ahead of the autumn internationals in November.

The Aviva Premiership may not start for another month but England coach Stuart Lancaster has wasted no time in today announcing his elite squad. The big news surrounds the omission of London Wasps flanker James Haskell, who now finds himself in the Saxons squad. With 47 caps to his name, Haskell is joined by Jonathan Joseph and David Strettle to make way for six new faces in the elite squad.

Forwards Dave Attwood, Matt Kvesic and Billy Vunipola find themselves amongst the 33-man elite squad with wings Marland Yarde and Christian Wade, along with centre Kyle Eastmond also making the selection.

Both the England senior and Saxons squads meet up on 11th August with Test matches scheduled against Australia, Argentina and New Zealand between 2nd and 16th November.
