The Collection - Bath Rugby

Built from the crests of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales, the British & Irish Lions iconic badge will have a new look to it in New Zealand next summer.
And whilst nothing has been done to the badge itself (that would not go down well), the Scroll that runs below it has been taken ‘back to the future’ so to say. Traditionally the name of country that the team are touring and the year of the tour are stated within the scroll, however in New Zealand next summer it will read ‘SINCE 1888′; the year of the first ever Lions tour to Australia and New Zealand.
This was no off-the-cuff decision from the British & Irish Lions, with work starting on it shortly after the teams successful tour of Australia in 2013. They worked with players from as far back as the 1950s, as well as former coaches, the Home Unions and SANZAR. They also involved player representatives, the media and the teams commercial partners to try and capture what the Lions mean to people today.
When speaking on behalf of the team and their findings, British & Irish Lions Chief Executive John Feehan said: “Fundamentally it is the experience of touring that defines the very essence of the Lions.” For this reason, they decided to change the wording on the Scroll to ‘SINCE 1888′. Each tour since that first one in 1888, the team have made their own bit of history and 2017 will be no exception.
Canterbury have already gone back to the teams founding year as part of the British & Irish Lions range, so head over to Lovell Rugby and check out the 1888 Collection.
