The Offload's Top 3 March Aviva Premiership Transfers

April 03. 2018

We’re now approaching the business end of the season in the Aviva Premiership, and for some this means the final few weeks in the current club colours.

March proved to be a busy month on the transfer front, with a host of internationals confirming that they’ll be moving onto pastures new once the current season comes to an end. We’ve picked out three transfers that caught our eye last month, from a two-time Lion to a two-time World Cup winner…

Jamie Roberts – Harlequins to Bath

A British & Irish Lion in 2009 and 2013, Bath have made quite the acquisition in Harlequins centre Jamie Roberts. We’ve seen over the past decade just how destructive the Welshman can be with the ball in hand and his powerful style of play should compliment the elusive running game of Jonathan Joseph. If Todd Blackadder can get this partnership to click, then Bath could be a force to be reckoned with in attack next season.

Alex Cuthbert – Cardiff Blue to Exeter Chiefs

Rob ‘The Wizard’ Baxter will be hoping to work his magic on another under-performing winger this summer, with Wales winger Alex Cuthbert arriving from Cardiff Blues. You only need to look at the performances of Olly Woodburn over the last couple of seasons to see what a move to Sandy Park can do for a player, and we’re expecting similar things from Cuthbert going forward. Our early prediction… 10+ Aviva Premiership tries!

Ben Franks – London Irish to Northampton Saints

There hasn’t been much to shout about at Franklin’s Gardens over the last seven months, but things are already looking up for next season. To get the best out of their new look backs department, which includes Dan Biggar and Taqele Naiyaravoro, Saints are going to need a strong set-piece and we feel that the addition of two-time Rugby World Cup winner Ben Franks could prove to be a very smart piece of business by the East Midlands club.
