Most of the pre-match talk focused on Williams and how he would adapt to playing rugby league again. It didn’t take him long to find his stride however he was reminded of the physicality that rugby league offers when Sam Burgess ran in to him. Although SBW ended up on his back, he did manage to hold on and take Burgess down.
He marked his return with after finishing off a well worked team try. A gap appeared in the centre of the field and Williams took full advantage.
The current New Zealand Professional Boxing Association Heavyweight Champion and the WBA International Heavyweight Champion spent just under five years in rugby union and accomplished more than most do in a whole career. He experienced rugby in both hemispheres aswell as winning the Super XV with the Chiefs and Rugby World Cup with New Zealand.
He made his Roosters debut in a pair of the new Asics Lethal Flash DS colourway. During his time in union he mainly wore a pair of Adidas adiZero RS7 rugby boots however it seems he has opted for a change of brand to go with the code switch. The boots are due for release in the UK early July.
